Please find enclosed the final version of the program for the Journey of the World Youth Day Cross, Icon and Message stick throughout Adelaide.
As you will see from the program, this will be a period of significant activity throughout the Archdiocese. Those who have prepared the itinerary have done their very best to incorporate the wishes of local parishes, schools, groups and communities.
The message of the Cross is one of transformation and reconciliation: the death of Christ for us has transformed our lives and destinies, and His sacrifice of love has reconciled all things and all people. We see it as a journey of hope, and hence the quotation on the program from Blessed Mary Mackillop, “Called To Bring Hope.”
We are very grateful to those who have laboured so hard and long in preparing the itinerary.
Please do all you can to advertise the Procession of the Cross through you area, and do what you can to involve local people, young and old, and people from other Churches, bearing in mind than an Icon of Our Lady also accompanies the Cross. The Message Stick will also be a part of the entourage, keeping ever before us the memory and present reality of the First Australians.
