SEVENHILL JUBILEE PILGRIMAGE

“Lift Up” your spirits as “pilgrims of hope” and journey with us to Sevenhill inspired by the Jubilee Year.

WHAT IS IT?

Sevenhill Jubilee Pilgrimage

The 2025 Jubilee Year theme, ‘Pilgrims of Hope’, calls us to renew our hope that perseveres in the midst of trials and enables us to press forward in life.

Pilgrimages enable us to rediscover the value of silence, effort and simplicity of life and thus, are powerful acts of faith that symbolise our journey toward God. Visiting one of Adelaide’s Jubilee sites, including St Aloysius Church in Sevenhill offers a meaningful encounter with Christ.

We invited young people aged 18 to 35 to join COYYA on a pilgrimage to Sevenhill, including mass with Archbishop Patrick O’Regan, as well as take part in an opportunity to obtain a plenary indulgence on Saturday 28th June 2025 for the Jubilee Year!

  • The idea of a Jubilee originates in the Bible, where every 50th year was designated as a time for restoration, freedom, and renewal for the people of Israel.

The Catholic Church has embraced this tradition, proclaiming Jubilee Years periodically as opportunities for spiritual renewal and reconciliation. A Jubilee invites us to reflect on God’s mercy, deepen our faith and strengthen our commitment to justice, peace, and love.

A way to do this is by taking part in a pilgrimage, which also symbolises our journey toward God.

Visiting one of Adelaide’s Jubilee sites offers a meaningful encounter with Christ. St. Aloysius in Sevenhill is a peaceful setting to contemplate the Jesuit mission and the beauty of creation.

  • To acquire a plenary indulgence, the following 3 conditions must be fulfilled:

    • Sacramental Confession

    • Eucharistic Communion

    • And prayer for the intention of the Sovereign Pontiff (the Pope).

The fulfilment of these three conditions was offered during our pilgrimage to Sevenhill.

Indulgences strengthen our commitment to live a holy life and remind us, particularly during a Jubilee Year, of God's abundant mercy and calling to reconciliation and renewal.
